Spent 4 terrifying nights in The Governors Suite at the Martha Washington Hotel in Abingdon Virginia in November of 2002. Photographing the hotel for those 4 days was amazing & you could really feel the civil war history. Night was a different story. Strange things happened all around us which got our attention quickly. Strange noise. like "tinkling glass" heavy feelings in our bedroom. Electronic equipment went crazy. My Ipod froze up & the volume would be too loud or not working at all. The TV sound had a wishy washy white noise going through it.
About 300 yards behind the hotel are railroad tracks that are still operational & also have a great creepy vibe at night.
One night we stayed up until 2AM shooting the outside grounds of the hotel. check out there website & read the ghost stories. Amazing 5 star Hotel. Great rooms.Beautiful grounds & history but......little spooky at night. I shall never return, but I loved it.
